Coming from an exclusive French dynasty, Boucheron was founded by Frederic Boucheron in 1858 during the height of the Second French Empire, locating his first store in Galerie de Valois, in the Palais-Royal.
After receiving his first gold medal during the Universal Exhibition in 1867, Frederic Boucheron became the first jeweler to move to Place Vendôme. According to history, Boucheron settled at 26 Place Vendôme because he knew that the sunlight would radiate directly on the diamonds in the jewelry, making them shine more brightly during the day and part of the evening.
