Envision a grand palace where the best ingredients of the world are paired with the world’s best chefs. You can hear meat sizzling in the pan, knives chopping furiously, wine glasses clinking and laughter in the background. When you start getting closer to the chefs and the artisanal stands you start smelling the scent of herbs, browned butter, freshly baked bread and cheese in the air. As far as your eyes can see you are faced with a broad variety of French delicacies ranging from beautiful French cheeses, artisanal oils and the most extraordinary French wines. This place exists exactly the way you have just imagined, although only for a limited time. The “Taste of Paris” is set out to be a true treat to the senses and of course your pallet. It will take place at the Grand Palais, just around the corner from our Luxury Hotel in the 8th Arrondissement.
When and where will the Food Festival take place?
The event starts on the 9th and lasts for three days, until the 12 May, 2019. This will be the fifth year in a row and due to its success it is growing consistently in popularity. Last year it had attracted more than 30.000 visitors. This year the number of chefs has increased from 27 to over 40 and even more guests are expected to get a taste.
What awaits you at Taste of Paris?
“Taste” is part of a worldwide network of more than 20 events hosted in cities from London to Toronto, Sydney to Amsterdam, Dubai to Hong Kong. Paris, being a legendary culinary capital will be very special edition of “Taste” as the city does historically have some extraordinary talent at its disposal. Restaurants which normally require you to book months in advance, will be offering tastings with no reservations! Though we advise you to arrive early to have a chance to participate. Attending chefs will be of such caliber as Romain Meder from Alain Ducasse legendary Plaza Athénée or Kei Kobayashi, a Michelin-starred Japanese chef who has become famous for taking French gastronomy to new heights with a passion. You can also watch these and many more chefs live and get the chance to exchange ideas whilst experiencing some of their delicious creations.
Overall, you can expect four days of delicious food tastings, cooking shows, meet and greets with the chefs in residence at one of the cities iconic buildings, the Grand Palais. And if you feel like taking home some amazing produce, the Taste of Paris is home to an array of more than 100 artisans and food producers. The craftsmen and women offer their products for tasting and sale, the produce ranges from French cheeses to wine, jams, juices, teas, oysters, cold cuts, olive oil, ice cream, balsamic vinegar and much, much more.
And if you feel like going home with something which will last you longer than any of the delicious products Masterclasses will be offered at the Laurent-Perrier Theater and the Electrolux workshop will give you the opportunity to take part in cookery classes and go home with tips and techniques from leading Parisian chefs.
Also, if you are out for a more relaxing day and plan on treating yourself to a glass of champagne; The Laurent-Perrier champagne bar will be serving their exquisite champagne. Besides champagne, you’ll be able to find a broad selection of other wines throughout the festival with plenty of experts suggesting you the right wine to compliment your dish; or the other way around. This whole event takes place in friendly atmosphere conducive to mingling, exploring, creativeness and exchanging ideas. As such, it is a must visit for any gastronomic enthusiast.
