If you are looking for a shopping day while staying in our boutique hotel on Haussmann Boulevard then don’t forget to visit the Hugo Boss Boutique. Hugo Boss, also known as BOSS, is a German luxury fashion house. The house produces clothing, accessories, footwear and fragrances. It is one of the biggest German clothing companies.

The Hugo Boss house was founded in 1923 by Hugo Boss in Metzingen, Germany and their original production were clothes. They produced shirts, jackets, work clothing, sportswear and raincoats. They were forced into bankruptcy and in 1931 they reached an agreement with the creditors. They left him with six sewing machines to start again. During the rise of the Nazi party in the 1930’s they began to produce and sell Nazi uniforms. They got a large boost in sales during the second World War being the supplier of the Nazi uniforms. After World War II and the dead of the founder in 1948 they changed their main focus from uniforms to suites for men. In 1988 the company went public and also introduced a fragrance line. In 1997 they added men and women clothing diffusion lines. Since 2000 they have a full women collection. Since 2006 they also have children’s clothing, making it into a major global fashion house. For their clothes Hugo Boss has many different lines depending on the type of clothes. A few examples are Boss Black, Boss Selection, Boss Orange, Boss Green, Hugo, Baldessarini en Juvenis.

Hugo Boss Fragrance

Nowadays the company has clothes, fragrances and has licensing agreements with companies like Huawei, Samsung, HTC, Nike, Coty, Movado, Safilo and Children Worldwide Fashion SAS. It produces telephone covers, sportswear, skincare, watches, sunglasses and eye wear. It is still a controversial brand after all of those years even though their brand is recognized and worn by people worldwide. In 2010 they tried to move their plant from the USA to countries with lower costs like Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania. The company capitulated to the boycott and cancelled the project. New plans to close the plant in 2015 also failed. In 2019 Hugo Boss objected the trademark application of a small brewery in Swansea. It costed the brewery a lot of money in legal fees and they needed to change the name of several beer brands. In February 2020 a comedian called, Joe Lycett, changed his legal name to Hugo Boss as a protest. Still despite their controversies they are a famous and well doing brand that stood through time. They had a lot of concurrence from big houses like Prada, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger over the years. Nowadays especially the smaller brands are a competition for them but they still succeed to stand through the time. Enjoy your stay at our central luxury boutique hotel in Paris.
