One of the most spectacular jumping competition is happening in Paris, for another year. The Saut Hermès is an elite jumping competition happening every year in the heart of the city. The event is from the 22th of March, until the 24th. However, the first day of competition is reserved for French licensed horse riders. This is a best kept secret luxury experience!
Organizer
Organizer The event is organized by Hermès, a french brand, established in 1837, by Thierry Hermès. It was initially dedicated to horse-drawn carriage accessories, at a time where horses were still everywhere in the City of Lights. You can still see the link of the brand with horses on Hermès logo.
Competition
The jumping competition is at the brand image: reserved for elite. Indeed, Grand Palais will welcome around 50 participants, almost a hundred horses for 9 shows. The best cavaliers come to Paris to this high level competition: the show category is the highest one (CSI 5*) classified by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI).
A special category was created also: “Les Talents Hermes” category, promoting young hope for jumping. The point of this category is to pass knowledges, as the younger have to be sponsored by the older riders.
The track of the jumping is pretty technical, the track being small, turns can be tricky. The heights jumped will be between 1.4 m and 1.6 m.
Place
The Saut Hermes is also the occasion to see a jumping show inside an emblematic site. The Grand Palais is located in the 8th district of Paris. It was built for the 1900 Exposition Universelle and is listed as historical monument.
The nef is remarkable, composed of 6000 tons of steel (more than the Eiffel Tower), it is the biggest European canopy, with a surface of 13 500 square meters.

- 23rd of March: from 10.00 (doors will open at 9.30) until 17.30. Re-opening at night, from 19.00 until 23.00 (for one class and one show).
- 24th of March: from 9.15 (doors will open at 9.00) until 19.00.
