What to see at the Louvre Museum?
The Louvre Museum is an iconic landmark in Paris, hosting some of the world’s most famous works of art. There are over 38,000 pieces of art and artifacts showcased in the Louvre, extending throughout history from prehistory era to the 21st century. You’ll have a chance to experience art from different periods and locations around the world.
The Louvre sections its art into categories including Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Islamic, and other contemporary exhibitions. There is a mix of art mediums, such as historical artifacts, sculptures, paintings, and prints.
Art featured in the Louvre come from famous artists throughout history. The most famous masterpieces in the Louvre Museum are the Mona Lisa, Aphrodite, The Winged Victory, The Consecration of the Emperor Napoleon, and the Wedding Feast at Cana.
Most likely you’ve seen and heard about these paintings before, but experiencing them in real life is much different; the scale of each piece of art differs from a small painting held in a protective case as is the Mona Lisa, or a massive painting like the Wedding Feast which takes up an entire wall of the museum.

With such a large scale of art on display, it’s advised that you have a plan on what you plan to see before you arrive. The museum’s exhibitions cover over 72,000 square meters. It’s said that if you spend even 30 seconds in front of each piece, it will take weeks to see everything in the museum.
Why Visit the Louvre Museum?
The Louvre Museum is among the biggest attractions in Paris and represents the vast wealth within the city. In total, the art collection of the Louvre is valued at over £28.7 Billion. The timeless art has been preserved throughout history and protects a part of French history.
The Louvre Museum was initially constructed as the Louvre Castle during the 12th-13th Centuries. You can still see evidence of the original castle walls in the museum today. The castle transitioned to becoming the Louvre Palace, home to French Royalty, including Napoleon. When the royal palace was relocated to the Palace of Versailles, it was converted into a museum to feature the royal collections and highlight the French heritage.
The museum has extended significantly since it was originally founded in 1793. The artwork is featured on its five floors and multiple wings hosting the various exhibitions. Visiting the Louvre, you’ll be greeted by the iconic glass pyramid, designed by I.M. Pei. The structure was initially controversial over its relation to the museum and French architecture, but it has become widely accepted and a symbol of the Louvre.

From the world-class artwork to the architectural beauty of the museum, the Louvre will enhance your luxury experience in Paris. Seeing the artwork exhibited at the Louvre museum is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to see famous art known around the entire world.
